District Profile
The Capital city of Kerala which is one of the most beautiful in the state. It is situated on the Southern tip of Malabar coast in peninsular India. Thiruvananthapuram is the southernmost district of the fourteen districts in Kerala. It stretches along the shores of the Arabian Sea for a distance of 78 Kilometres and an area of 2192 square kilometres. It also possess a handful of naturalistic and magnificent beaches, back waters, mountains, wild life sanctuaries, historic monuments etc. One of the other major landmarks in the district is the Government Secretariate. This white coloured building that was built by the kings of Travancore is the seat of power. The central durbar hall was where the assembly used to meet during the imperial rule. Less than a mile away complementing this gothic structure stands the modern legislature complex, the largest legislature building in India.
